>> I am one of two people instructing the KU Film course that you wrote about. I do hold my office hours in SL, but not from home. I'm actually in my office at Oldfather Studios.
While one instructor has Real World office hours, students meet with me each week at a new location in SL.
Filming takes place in several different worlds to create "Machinima" including Linden Lab's Second Life and Blizzard entertainment's World of Warcraft.
We take Machinima very seriously as a form of filmmaking and will be expanding on our cyberculture, new media and gaming studies here within the Film Studies Program in the future.
One of our most recent spirited discussions occurred this week over the role of camera as well as how the definition of camera has changed now that synthetic worlds are in play as filming locations.
Please feel free to contact myself or Catherine Preston about our New Media and **Cyberculture** studies here at KU Film Studies. Thank you for mentioning our class.

KU at center of computer universeSchool is host to international programming competitionFor the last 72 hours, Kansas University assistant professor Andy Gill has been a master of the universe, ordering dozens of satellites to move around the galaxy. All right, it is all part of a game, and the moving of satellites is happening just in the virtual world. But what is real is that, for a weekend, Kansas University has been the center of the computer programming universe.
