Hi elders I hope everyone are fine and in good health. Blessings
Dmi
M Ichael
Good morning from New York...
@Dmitry Sokolov I seem to remember there were some ideas about using ASkMATT to help think through strategy in Bhutan.
@Bhandari Bhai Bhandari I am familiar with the ASKMATT approach. I think it's something to consider.
1
Dmi
good deep night from New Zealand...
how are you doing?
M Ichael
https://askmatt.solutions/
1
Dmi
thanks for remembering!!
Bhandari
I am unknown to ASK MATT
Dmi
I am not sure how we are going to communicate in this standard here... The game is yet to be developed into the App
it's all about building mental maps for your strategic planning, @Bhandari
Bhandari
Make it the best group
M Ichael
you can check out the link later when you have time. The short story is I am collaborating on a paper with @Steven Wallis You can find him in the ESOT community..
Dmi
this game is the first step towards systemic and systematic studies, for PKOSO locality
M Ichael
I', trying to figure out if we can do an ASKMATT experienece via a closed FB group. It would be very cool if we could
1
Dmi
I am more interested in applications rather than papers...
Bhandari
Make it please
M Ichael
to each his own...
Dmi
M @M Ichael, we need the "collective memory" instance first...
M Ichael
@Bhandari Bhai Bhandari when you said Make it, did you mean trying it out on FACEBook
Bhandari
Go ahead with new close fb group, one can lead.
M Ichael
Dmi
all published here will be eventially lost
it's too early guys, unless you decided to map all your resources on LiM. Both AskMatt and P2PCI platforms are yet to be developed, i.e. not convenient to use. Many tried, not many keep contributing...
Bhandari
Ok
You all have noble ideas or wisdom.
M Ichael
I believe we can do it on Facebook. I think there is no harm in trying... what say you folks.
Dmi
we need "the memory"
no memory = no intelligence
M Ichael
If folks think it is worth a go, let me know.... I will set up the closed FB group in a day or so...
Dmi
spinning wheel of reinvention
same with this thread, I believe
do we have an action plan easy to access to a newcomer?
M Ichael
Action plan is premature. We are still in the exploring stage. When we find just the right thing to do next, then an action plan.
M Ichael
@Bhandari Bhai Bhandari The rest of my day is chores.. will be back on the web in some hours. I will check when I am next on. For whatever it's worth I do believe a FB closed community to learn more and use the ASKMATT approach could be a real help in finding just the right strategy to get to where we all want to
Dmi
I think, we are at the research stage, which requires mapping available resources, locally and external. It's the reinvention wheel If they are not mapped and published at intuitively found location, i.e. "memory"
Bhandari
I have list of members from Bhutan who are ready at the ground, when budget is ready. Don't take it as a mega project. It is just to start the construction after paying the land, let's not make it complicated, it is easy at the ground when we have fund only three stages, buy land, start construction build the facilities and start operation. I think we need the action plan at the third stage. My suggestion
Dmi
I think, funding will come when you show your stream of income, your local income
1
another option can be a full-time position for one of you constantly applying for funds. Prepare yourself for 2-3 applications / week.
1
Bhandari
@M Ichael Josefowicz or @Anneloes Smitsman
Dmi
in any case, you need strategic planning. AskMatt, or LiM, any of those can be helpful. But in any case, you need a co-working platform where all your resources can be easily located
1
the latter means "collective memory"
1
LiM is a working prototype. Hard to use but working well (for me at least)
Anneloes
Dear friends, as I mentioned to @Bhandari, I cannot take responsibility for writing funding proposals. I agreed to advise on funding options and draft an email for the EU and UNDP, and advise how @Bhandari can send this once his charity is registered, or else have a registered entity that can act as recipient for those funds in collaboration with his charity. Although the conversations here are, I trust, most useful, I am not able to follow this any longer. After not following it for 2 days there were 732 messages here that i have not read! Hence I felt it is more constructive for me to advise Bhandari via individual chat. As soon as I have confirmation of the registration of his charity i will then draft the email, or if any other partner options come up prior .. just let me know.
1
Bjorn
This secteric " collective memory" drops in from time to time. I don't see the point to progress for Children in the Village. The Halbwachs philosophy is not very much compared to The Great philosophical Pioneers. And Marx is also on my "list. So I think it time to say goodbye for me to. I saw that 100 msg here were between 3 - 4 people, who shares the same opinions and collective thinking. Making collective ideas?
Dmi
nice...
1
Bhandari
OK@Anneloes Smitsman OK @Bjorn Hallstrom I will not be happy if the leader left the group unless the result on ground. If all leaves it is no where pkoso will be
1
Anneloes
I did not say i would leave, i said i can no longer follow
it is too much
2
From time to time i will check here, but i cannot then read everything that has been said.
1
Bhandari
Ok
Anneloes
And if the feeling of 'this is too much' becomes like a pressure then the risk is people want to pull out from supporting.
Dmi
Sorry, @Bhandari, I am not the best communicator of complicated techniques.
In any way, just funding will not help your village. You need educate your people to manage, fundraise and market all your activities yourself...
1
Bhandari
With respect only
Dmi
sorry for probably repeating. I'll be back when "the game" is developed and we can be more productive in mapping your resources / strategic planning
Bhandari
Myself without help is not possible.
Bjorn
No Dmitry. First the center.( base) then the education.
Dmi
I know. You need a "trainer" who could transfer his knowledge to you and your people
from my experience, a minimal viable process works best
when a success is shown, it can be scaled up
Bhandari
OK we can together
Bjorn
Sorry. First the land. So the centre.and then education .
Dmi
and branched to other spheres / branches of a project
OK. First is the land
Bhandari
I have all respect from my heart and soul. I seek help all elders are aware and have feelings on my cause
Michelle
Has anyone contacted Loden foundation?
1
Bhandari
I have drop the email
Bjorn
But 100 days ago this was the track. So why spend Bla.bla on this.
Bhandari
@Bjorn Hallstrom new members ,new ideas ,so I stop adding any more
1
Dmi
we will spend bla-bla if processes are not visible / not registered on a page easily found by anyone at any time
each participant must have a chance of knowing what is our current priority, what namely task can be picked for execution, right now
3
sorry for reminding. I can't be of more use at this time. Continuing bla-bla is also counter-productive. Closed loop... I think, I was asked about usage of AskMatt here... My apologies All!! I am off for now
Michelle
I will have more time to devote to this around May 20th.
1
Dmi
I'll be back not earlier than the App is developed. Bla-bla exchange is not my favourite game too...
Bjorn
Bjorn
I am not sure Dmitry. I have read lots of your msg.s
Michelle
We need a common language. We all more or less understand English but the village people and even, I suspect, the proposed board members cannot be asked to jump hoops and learn map-making with computer software. The concept of a visual thinking map is not too easy to grasp, though, and maybe a common ground would be found by sharing hand-drawn thinking maps that some of the experts could then consult when building computerized verions.
1
Bjorn
Dmi
I need a communicator, a person who can talk about complicated ideas and concepts easy and fun
@Michelle, that'll be a game
- through an idea, get points
- make a relevant connection, get points
close "causation loop", get points, etc
all to learn is through relevant ideas and make connections
... throw, sorry.
Michelle
Yes, I looked at your system a while ago and see what you are talking about, but don't have time to spend on that at the moment. Today is a big deadline day for me (in my translation work).
Dmi
mind maps are required for educating managers and other staff locally. Without structuring and mapping the business can be not as effective, survival in the best case
sure @Michelle! sorry for distracting
good night from NZ.
1
Dmi
Michelle
Good night
Bjorn
Did you get my point?
Dmi
no, I didn't
could you tell more?
Dmi
I am ready to answer your questions, at later stage
good night
THU 3:26PM
M Ichael
I suggest going forward that people keep comments short and max 2 before getting a response. . I know I have not followed that rule, but will in the future.....
2
It is not politie to expect people to have to look through looong threads of messenges. The better place for that is on facebook itself.
1
Michelle
I've never owned a cell phone (out of choice) but I am guessing that it may be more bothersome to receive so many messages when working from a phone (less scroll down capability and more alerts).
M Ichael
Folks might want to continue some of this conversation at the closed facebook community. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1674945112530510/
@Michelle Arpin I have the same experience. I do everything from a laptop.

M Ichael
To all the folks on the thread. I realized this morning that I want to figure out how to reinvest the social capital in my part of the world in Bhutan. Money is an important part of the puzzle. But I know we can do such much more. Thoughts?
1
Bhandari
M Ichael
I realized that the conversation should be not what you have to do , but what those in the developed world, who are lucky can do. Of course money is one thing, Another thing is spreading the words on social media... But it is not enough.
I noticed one of the foundations gives courses on "entrepreneurship." I bet we could augment and enrich whatever work they are doing...
Michelle
I think fisheries could be part of the picture: http://www.nca.gov.bt/
Bhandari
Fishing is not allowed in rivers and streams in Bhutan. Fish farming is worth but people still gives less interest except few , they fear sin, as Buddhist people don't belief in taking animals lives(killing). Meat is imported from India mostly and few people in the villages do , poultry and piggery or fish farming as Ministry of Agriculture has no option to encourage animal sloughtering in the Buddhist Country. People really need to do this no murcey on animal activities for survival.
Michelle
Is it possible to grow chick peas or some other high protein legume?
Bhandari
What is Click peas and legume
Rice can be grown in paddies, millet and maize but not in most part of Bhutan. Panbang is not favourable place to grow cash crops, very stoney earth
Michelle
it is a mystery that these khengpa people have survived
Bhandari
Vegetables as a kitchen garden can be seen in very few house holds
Pototes, spinach, pumpkins and chillies
Michelle
Does grass grow in fields? Would there be a way of composting what there is to enrich the soil of the gardens?
Bhandari
Did you notice the project land full of stones
Michelle
YES!
Bhandari
Yes, first we have to sell the stones and make the land management for growing
Michelle
I wonder if some tyes of medicinal herbs could be grown. That would not be heavy to export.
Bhandari
That would be great if the hot climate 30°to 40° in summer and 0° or below in winter is again favourable. We can plant trees is good.
Don't get discourages with this climate
It will happen something if all the stones are removed first
Michelle
We certainly don't grow things all year round here either, with the snow and deep freezing. Cultures can be made for part of the year and still be profitable.
1
Bhandari
Green house for growing is option
Michelle
Yes, sounds good, since you barely get freezing temperatures.
Bhandari
Do you have any idea on SLMP (Sustainable land management project) , I knew that Goshing Gewog once had this project. May be Indian government funded.
People made traces and some donors like UNICEF gave toilet construction
Bhandari
If people give fund for this SLM, somebody from outside can bring machines and remove stones and , people can grow vegetables , rices , maize and millet as a seasonal crops. My suggestion.
Michelle
The top soil would need to be rich enough. You could get an analysis.
Bhandari
Many more things to do and my focus is first pkoso and this includes "Plan Panbang" support organisation.
Michelle
Yes, your contribution is education. I think @M Ichael Josefowicz was looking for solutions for the general area, to help people survive and thrive.
1
We cannot do everything all at once.

Bhandari
Good night respected elders
Michelle
Bhandari
Your efforts will be blessings for villagers one day. Love you all
M Ichael
A dear friend of mine in Zambia is working on a commerical project growing Moringa.. I don't know if it will grow in your part of Bhutan. He calls it a "wonder plant" From what I know it should be worth exploring...http://www.treesforlife.org/our-work/our-initiatives/moringa/how-to-grow
M Ichael
you can have my friend, Steven Putter on Facebook. He is a wonderful person and I am sure he will be happy to help anyway he can https://www.facebook.com/steven.putter?fref=nf
Bjorn
M Ichael
I wonder if it turns out that it is easy to grow Moringa that it might be cool to say Contribute $16,000 so we can buy the land, devote a part of it to grow Moringa for the villages while waiting for the money we need to go to the next stage of building our buildings...
It could work. From the Moringa site "The Moringa tree is native to northern India, but today it is common throughout the tropical and sub-tropical regions of Asia, Africa, and Latin America." I
Michelle
What do they do with it?
It sounds like a supplement, not sustenance.

actually both.... Check with Steve Putter's persona on facebook. He's been working on it for over 7 years and now starting to get results.
Michelle

Michelle
Moringa trees sound nutritious and very friendly. I love trees. I see there are recipes too and instructions on how to grow them. http://moringatrees.org/moringa-oleifera-trees.html
1
Dmi
we need someone to put the time diagrams (a'la Gannt charts) vs expenses for the project. on the example of the Moringa trees: - time from planting to harvesting - tree lifetime against other critical stages of the project
BTW, Moringa trees is one of the options, I guess what are the other? Where are they being collected?
Is it something you'd like to list on LiM? LiM ensures findability of the topics. I don't think, GDrive is indexed by Google to be found by any of PKOSO project participants.
1
GDrive is good for keeping working documents but has no chances of finding them in future
1
LiM is a findability tool but not as convenient for co-working on documents
a combination of both seems working fine from my experience

"With NutriDev, global nutrition can become a reality. Located in the farming district of Chisamba, Central Province in Zambia, NutriDev is the realisation of six years of hard work in developing local communities for sustainable nutrition in Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi by planting Moringa crops in rural areas. The aim was initially to deal with malnutrition and lack of community projects and steady income streams. Six years on NutriDev is proud to share that these communities are now in a position to provide quality Moringa on a commercial basis. With the guidance of NutriDev and the turnkey processing and manufacturing solutions at our purpose built facility, NutriDev has achieved a milestone in developing community nutrition and income sustainability.

Michelle
I don't have time to work on documents but I did note a few things for my own use. I have not had a day off in 3 weeks maybe and I often work until bedtime (fitting in house chores and self care in between sittings at the computer). I am expecting company tomorrow and am headed for bed now. Lots of dishes waiting for me too. I have one more stint of 6 days working and then I hope to have a lighter schedule. I guess this is not relevant, but it's just to say that I am not very available for the time being. Good night.
1
M Ichael
Sleep well and rest. It is all asynch. It's all good. the conversation will be here when you next have a little time in between all that other stuff.
Dmi
thanks @M Ichael!
great info!!
What's the plan any way?
SAT 5:09AM
M Ichael
In this conversation only
@Bhandari Bhai Bhandari can guide us on the plan. The question is what does he think is the most important thing that can be done now. That still means raising the money to buy the land.
1
M Ichael
As we have brainstormed we have talked about various ways to raise money. The new thing that came up in the last series of exchanges was what can be done about food as part of the plan and as a good in it's own right. I know steven Putter work is all about rural development, nutrition and sustainable enterprise. I think but do not know that could work in Bhutan
M Ichael
Form the website "MORINGA FOR CHILDREN Rapidly growing bodies need nutrients to aid in muscle and bone growth, brain development, mental clarity, healthy skin, hair, and nails, and to strengthen the immune system. Children deprived of nourishment during these intensive growth cycles may show lower IQ levels, speech and language difficulties, and slower motor skills. They can contract a number of chronic diseases and ailments, setting them up for poor health lifelong. Yet children are fussy eaters, selecting sugared cereals, soda and fatty dairy products over vegetables, fruit, whole grains and lean meats. With Moringa, you can give your child a head start to a healthy life.
M Ichael
the website http://www.nutridevinternational.com/what-is-moringa/

Bhandari
@M Ichael Josefowicz Great thing if it works in Bhutan, Moringa
M Ichael Josefowicz added Steven Putter.
M Ichael
The plant orginates in Northern India and Nepal. That makes me believe it should work.
@Steven Putter this thread is about rural development in Bhutan. We can use your help.
When I first met @Steven Putter via social media we worked together on this. He has come a very long way. https://www.facebook.com/imagine.rural.development.initiative/?pnref=lhc
1
Bhandari
I think people making donation for pkoso project is worth great help. Elders in this thread are all with noble ideas and wisdom, how it works
M Ichael
Yes, Getting a stream of donations is job one.
M Ichael
I'm thinking that maybe a way to make that go faster is to say, (and do ) something like. We are asking for $16,000+ to buy the land. As soon as we have it we will move to raising the funds to build the facility. While we are raising that second stage, we will cultivate the land to grow Moringa. In the meantime we can evaluate if a Moringa prototype on the land is doable with the resources available in the village.
M Ichael
I think I know that an immediate action after buying the land will increase people's willingness to contribute.
Bhandari
No , if Moringa works , we will ask @Steven Putter to supply for villagers
@M Ichael Josefowicz as soon as we buy the land , we have to immediately look for building the facility. By then we overcome the first stage , we will have more supporters I guess.
M Ichael
Yes, I have already add @Steven Putter to the conversation. Hopefully he will join us. In the meantime I am talking from a fund raising point of view. There are many people for whom buying the land and then raising money for the buildings will not resonate.
1
Bhandari
I think the members in this thread will make it some percentage of contribution for land, however asking their close friends directly. I have a great hope.
M Ichael
Of course if we can get in touch with a big donor, that problem goes away.
1
Bhandari
Please don't say "if we can in touch" please say we can.
1
M Ichael
@Bhandari Bhai Bhandari I think you are correct that people in the community will be happy to contribute what they can. Maybe they can get to $16,000 which would be great. But I think that is unlikely.
Whenever I do a project I always try to have a plan A, B,C, D .... we can but we don't know which plan will get us to where we want to get to.
1
Try everything at once. The Universe will tell us which is the right one..
1
Bhandari
Ok
M Ichael
Do you have any pictures of the land we want to buy?
Bhandari
Yes
M Ichael
links?

It is clearly shown in pkoso website
M Ichael
I will go take a look...
Bhandari
Canadian fundraising link
Open this link , this stoney earth is project land we want
M Ichael
thank you. looking now
Bhandari
Great , thank you Sir
M Ichael
How big is the plot?
Bhandari
1.15 acres
We say acres
M Ichael
1.15 acres is 115 dismals, Is that correct?
Bhandari
Yes
The design is made in that size
Drawings are also uploaded in the websites
M Ichael
Can you tell me if this site sounds accurate to you? I need to learn more about Bhutan and found it http://bhutanomics.com/
Bhandari
This site is no more, I see it is not working
1
M Ichael
try this link. it is working for me...http://bhutanomics.com/2014/king-bhutan-warning-corruption/
Bhandari
No it is not working for me
I will try it later, when I have better networks
May be net work problem or the site is no more
M Ichael
after you've had a chance it will help me to know if you think it is an honest place to help me better understand your country...
Bhandari
OK just Google Bhutan , so many others that you will read
Government and it's people of Bhutan, rural Bhutan , ten ministry , executive , judiciary, all
M Ichael
Yes. I have been doing that. I'm searching for a good place to learn the news in Bhutan today. I have searched Google News, but it's mostly westerners talking. I want to find the authentic voices from journalists who are native to Bhutan. Any suggestions?
The big problem of course, is they have to be in English for a monolingual guy like me

Bjorn
I understand more every day from reading here. Michael ask , do you have grandchildren?
M Ichael
Yes I do. A 14 year old girl quickly becoming a woman, who is the joy of my life. I never would have believed the experience of being a grandparent.
1
Bjorn
Good! I have 6 and 7th. Is on the way. ( I have 4 children)
M Ichael
You are blessed! I only had one child. It seems like I will only have 1 grandchild.
One thing that happened to me when she was born is my time horizon was extended to 2050... changes everything...
1
Bjorn
HaHa.
M Ichael
Being a grandparent is having all the joy of children without the responsibility. All I have to do is play with her. I can leave the hard part to her parents...

I think that crowdfunding can help us obtain certification if we use it to get our "brand" known. The activities that @Bhandari Bhai Bhandari has done in the past (giving books and clothes, footwear to school children) have worked towards building trust in the name Bhandari. If we do small-scale crowdfunding such as trying to get blankets before the cold season comes back for the children who are presently boarding at their school because they live too far away to travel (I had a good picture of their beds but cannot find it), this could go towards building trust in "PKOSO", or in B. again, but since the CSOA does not want us to use that name, we need a new name SOON, so that donors will remember it and give in the future for larger fundraising activities. As a next step, we could raise money for a bus to bus those same children home on weekends, for example, and to bus some of the odler children to their school (the existing system does not cater to kids within 6 kilometers of their school). The bus would also carry our name and build trust within the local community, and it would be on eitem ticked ff of our list (we probably need at leat 2 buses).
2
Bhandari
Yes@Michelle Arpin , you said the right thing for me now.
1
Bjorn
Looks fine. BUT AGAIN. STEP 1. ( children in the village center) buy the Land.
1
Bhandari
M Ichael
@Michelle Arpin I think you are really onto something. Do I understand the first thing we have to do is decide on a name?
Bhandari
M Ichael
What do people think of this.
1. Choose a name.
2. Get some funding coming in as per @Michelle Arpin comments.
3. Get incorporation in Bhutan.
4. continue the search for big funding & keep going on finding a crowdsourcing approach.
Bhandari
I will find that picture of kids bed@Michelle Arpin is looking for
I have in my profile
Michelle
We will not get certified until we have funds pledged for the entire 3 or 5 years.
Bjorn
Pkoso. Is there . Been communicated. The name of the project " Village Children center in Bhutan" is my proposal. There are many variations of this. Bhandari is the project leader. So we must give several ideas , and he has to decide.
M Ichael
Bhandari
M Ichael
How much money has to be pledged?
Bhandari
Bhutan village children centre organisation
Michelle
The blankets for bhutan boarders is a good way to start our crowdsourcing but the land should come before the bus, I guess.
M Ichael
Bhandari
I am not sure
M Ichael
My hunch is getting certification would be a big help..., what do people think is the most practical way to do that? What does it take to be able to use the words CSO?
Bjorn
Hei. Let's take the name first. Blankets, bus, helicopter, collective memory, etc . Can come later.
1
Michelle
Put CSOA on hold. They told us to work with Loden foundation and will certify us once we look viable.
2
Bhandari
Stop this buddy joke
Michelle
For the blankets, I think B. had calculated 30 or 40 dollars per child. Are there 135 kids?
Bhandari
Little more children's and yes maximum 40 dollars per piece
150kids@40 dollars will be fine
M Ichael
So then do folks think we should consider some crowdsourcing for $6000?
Bhandari
Small steps, No1. land No.2 blankets. No.3 foot wears No.4 few kids playing toys are good forward
As soon as I get this the distrubution report will reach to the thread with photos and will be more proof or trust.
I guess first steps should be smaller steps worth less amount than we can go for construction fund, crowdsourcing make a sense well but we can always talk the project is worth not less than 589,000USD
M Ichael
Undestood and agreed. The only questions are the most practical ways to get there.
Bhandari
M Ichael
In the context of raising money maybe we should consider.. blankets. foot wears few kids playing toys are good forward which I think we help us get much closer to the land and the buildings and the full vision realized.
Michelle
Donors can be contacted afterwards with information about our larger vision and invited to contribute to the purchase of the land.
M Ichael
Consider that every successful project builds the Brand.
Bhandari
Yes
M Ichael
nothing more Brand Buidling that being able to say "Thank you for helping us reach our goal"
Bhandari
Yes
M Ichael
So that sounds like you think it would be a good idea to think about some crowdsourced solution for the blankets... is that true?
1
Bhandari
Pin point all my activities as in my wesites and my fb profile is the proof
Michelle
iIthink so. Let's get the name within one week and start a campaingn, Blankets for Bhutan Boarders the following week.
Bhandari
Sent blankets , pillows , bedsheets , foot wears or play materials some money so I can immediately buy the worth and reach to children's
M Ichael
Bhandari
Or I have enough pictures already
M Ichael
I like this "Blankets for Bhutan Boarders" what does the name have to be?
Bhandari
See all the distributions photos in my fb profiles
Considering the word "village"sound wise
Bhutan Rural Real Regeneration Org.
I don't know
What name should we give first
Michelle
BRRR is used for refrigeration and cold things
My 2 kids are coming for lunch, I need to get ready. Will drop by later.

Have a good day @Michelle Arpin

Wow!!! Happy Mum today.
We will keep on the subject pkoso
Bjorn
Bhandari you can not call it Bhutan Rural realRegeneration Org!!!!!!

Bhandari
@Bjorn Hallstrom Just a suggestion
I said I don't know again
Bjorn
But you need to have a feeling for the name. I know.!
Bob RJ
@Dmi Try & @M Ichael ... Capture sharable URLs here ... http://niask.pbworks.com/w/page/117943152/PKOSO-org%20Bhutan
Bhandari
@Bjorn Hallstrom Yes I really like to take your word "village" ,l love the village most
Bjorn
Children!!!!!!
And village.!!!!!!
1
Bhandari
Yes, find the words now
Bjorn
Sorry to say but all this bob graphic and thread/Google is just loads of time killing. For me. THINK BY YOURSELF.
1
Bhandari
Bhutan Village/Rural Children Care Organisation
How is that @Bjorn Hallstrom
Bjorn
Sounds like a staccato Org.with bureaucrats.
M Ichael
could be BCCO or BVRCO could work ok to begin something?
Bjorn
No . You have pkoso!!!!!
M Ichael
I though someone said they need to change pkoso, did I get that wrong?
Bjorn
I don't think you understand me. The project name should "sound " inviting. Like a book title.
1
Bhandari
@M Ichael Josefowicz Yes , csoa Bhutan suggested me that pkoso divides the region so need to go for another name
M Ichael
I just googled "bhutanRCO" nothing came up. Maybe that is something to consider...
The other initials are already used by other people....
What name would not divide the region? We can put it in front of Rural Children Organization.... it would be like X= the right region name and then xRCO
Bjorn
By by.
1
Bhandari
Pkoso is "Panbang .......so they discourage in a GNH country it should not be only panbang
M Ichael
What are the possibilities of what it should be?
Is saying Bhutan something they would be ok with?
Bhandari
Yes
Bhutan,Rural, village , something like that
M Ichael
So then why not use Bhutan Rural Childern Organzation?
Bjorn
They. Who are they?
1
Bhandari
OK
M Ichael
for the website and logo it could be BhutanRCO
I suggest not BRCO because if you search it you get lots of hits on other people using those initials.
Bhandari
If this works , we have to again contact drukhost for updates
Bhutan Rural lives Support Organisation
Bhutan Rural livelihood Support Organisation
M Ichael
that works for me.... @Bhandari Bhai Bhandari this is your decision to make.
Bhandari
Which one
M Ichael
Consider to keep it as simple as possible for people doing searches....
1
Bhandari
RLP is already a project in Bhutan
This will end in 2018
M Ichael
my personal preference is Bhutan Rural Children Organization - simple and will be easily understood.
I just googled "No results found for BhutanRuralChildrenOrganization.org" that means the url is available.
Michelle
Will the name of the center need to match the name of the organization, seeing that it will be the headquarters of the charity? Since it will not focus only on children, perhaps the word Village should be in there.
1
Bhandari
That would be the great @Michelle Arpin
If we find that suitable Name

The Village.... like the night portier. The Beach.. etc
M Ichael
let me know if people like the name. I will do a quick purchase and then transfer the domain name to whoever I should transfer it too.
this is the name "villagechildrenofbhutan.org"

M Ichael
I'm off the web for a while. Will check people's comments when I get back .... onward, every onward...:-
1
Bhandari
Bjorn
I will not let you know. Because my suggestion was you to make it better. You don't have the daktyl it is : The Village Children in Bhutan !!!!! Not : village children of Bhutan. Do you read and HEAR the difference?
1
M Ichael
No I didn't. in any case we own the other name..." Thank you Michael! Your order has been submitted. Print This Page Order Details Order Number: 1133192339" I will go away for a while. I am not invested in any particular name. I would love to close the chapter on this so we can move to the next step.
M Ichael
Google "http://villagechildrenofbhutan.org/" see what happens. No worries if we don't use it. It cost me lrdd than $8.00 USD
Michelle
Bhandari knows how to buy a domain, it was not THAT urgent.
2
Bhandari
Yes I have to pay to Drukhost 800BTN more for changing the domain name. It simple and not urgent now but let's finalise for today
1
Bjorn
You are not the project owner Michael. Bhandari will do registration.
Bhandari
It's OK cool, moving forward is urgent
Bjorn
Nobody do any reg . Without you !
M Ichael
Bjorn and other folks. the domain can be transferred easily. I hope you all trust me to transfer it whenever anyone thinks it should be transferred.....
you should all also know that I have no interest in every doing anything that @Bhandari Bhai Bhandari does not want to do. In this case it has no effect on anyone unless someone thinks it helps.
Bjorn
It's not about you. I simply think that this is Bhandari . And he is the Leader.
M Ichael
of course he is the leader, but that doesn't mean he has to do everything. I figure he is pretty busy and I am not busy. No harm done.
Michelle
@Bhandari Bhai Bhandari, I think pkoso.org can stay up until the other one is ready to use. We would not be chaging the domain from Drukhost point of view but adding one. Usually there is room for more than one domain within the hosting. I plan to buy a better template. This one was borrowed from another project that I did and the new picture does not work well. @M Ichael Josefowicz, you said you were going offline and then checking back with us but then went ahead alone. B. had said that he wanted "the" in front.
2
M Ichael
sorry
1
I'm back for a minute or so.... if you want I will be glad to buy and park any name if that saves someone else some time.... why not I will wait for @Michelle Arpin to type just the right name.
Michelle
No harm done. we could "park" it (is that the expression?) so that people searching with that name will be redirected to the official domain name.
M Ichael
sure...
Bjorn
Do you see/hear the difference ..... in Bhutan instead ..... of Bhutan?
M Ichael
I do see the difference, but would rather leave the details to other folks in the threads...
@Michelle Arpin I wanted to ask if my contibuition through the website ever went through...
Michelle
No, it did not get through.
M Ichael
grrr. so that is a problem that has to be solved....
1
It suggests to me that we need an easy way that works for everyone as easy as Amazon. I think GoFundMe needs a closer look... I will tell you what I find out if I find out anything.
Michelle
Are you sure it isn't a problem with your computer's security setiings?
1
David Lawrence Hawthorne left the group.
Bhandari
No harm dear elders, we are going the right track. Love you all.
@Michelle Arpin will make the final for new domain as and when she can. If two domain can work we can go ahead. This is just minor things for now, we have to seriously look for fund, the reality is with me and I suggest going forward may not be harm. I also think asking money to rich and kind people to eat food and learn skills is worth doing they should understand.
I am only worried donation is more formalities but I really again don't ask people why? if they are asking me 10BTN, moreover they say the reason for for asking me 10BTN.
I think go ahead
My suggestion
Bhandari
When things are more streamlined we can go on telling the people on fb. I guess recently @Anneloes Smitsman collected 20,000 USD in not more than 1 week, for some film activities, if I am not mistaken.
Anneloes
Hi, no i wish i was that succesfull, lol.
1
Bhandari
OK I just advertise
Anneloes
i simply shared the crowdfunding for my friend through my networks, and only managed to add about 1000 dollars to his funding.
1
he needed 20,000 and after all that effort only collected 3000
1
M Ichael
@Anneloes Smitsman do you have a link to the site your friend set up?
Anneloes
let me try to find it...
Bhandari
I read 13,000 in five days, may be I am wrong. But It's OK that was for good cause anyhow
Anneloes
i never wrote any figures like that.
maybe someone else did?
https://www.generosity.com/volunteer-fundraising/stop-the-suppression-of-native-american-people
Bhandari
Yes,it was there in the link you shared some figure mentioned.
Anneloes
the link was 20,000 they needed to raise.
and i never mentioned that i succeeded to raise this.
i only asked people to contirbute so they can complete their movie.
Bhandari
Yes yes, this was to complete the movie. The video was perfect
M Ichael
Am I correct that project was in a facebook thread that enabled contributions directly from the thread?
Bhandari
Via email, I guess
Anneloes
yes i posted the link that i just sent you on my timeline and asked people to support, and then send a msg in prviate to some of my friends asking them to support.
i did not use email.
but some replied back in private saying they are not comfortable to fwd the link cause they don't like to ask their friends for money.
Bhandari
Just like the Canadian Fundraising donation for pkoso, @Anneloes Smitsman, you did not do that you just shared that link and i want to say how that worked.
M Ichael
That makes sense. It can be a real imposition to ask people to contribute money. If it is a real friend asking it is very hard to say no. The only time I've done it is to support the work of someone's kid.
2
I read on kickstarter they have about a 35% success rate.
The problem I see with kickstarter is unless you raise your goal, you don't get any money. I don't like that. GoFundMe is different, you get the money as soon as it is sent without having to reach a specific goal.
1
Please everyone know I am not "selling GoFundME" I've never used it nor do I know anyone who has ever used it.
Ben
I have used GoFundMe.
1
I endorse it for fundraisers in the $2,500~ range.
Ben
They are a fantastic service, but something to consider is that for our fundraiser that my org raised $2,025 for, we ended up with about $1,850~ of that total. We also had a problem because a person who was going to donate $500 had to cancel once they realized that donations to GoFundMe were not tax deductible.
1
Bhandari
I think mentioning the subject as Children or children's welfare, 90% world population will understand. I guess
Ben
We have limited our GoFundMe's to the $2,500 range because of that problems. Americans who donate $200 or more typically want a tax break when making those donations, they can not claim any donations to any crowd funding site as tax deductible, it has to go directly to a non-profit 501c3 in the United States for it to be tax deductible.
1
Ben
GoFundMe does take a percentage of every donation (like every other crowdfunder), the more money you raise, the more they will take (hence why we ended up with $1,850 of the $2,050 we collected).
2
Bhandari
Ok
Bhandari
Is there any option that anybody in the thread can make legalise pkoso in your country. Somebody said they will try , how is this possible, because by end of June I will only have district approval and if needed Ministry of Education , ECCD chief approval. I already have local government approval. So there after we will follow up strictly with CSOA or we can continue with loden foundation as per the CSOA directives. I am still waiting their response to my mail last Thursday.
Bhandari
District approval will say, pkoso project is approved for starting construction. I have already talked with the chair person of this upcoming conference. I did not understand If this loden foundation is a Charity.
It will say my vision is approved to carry out, than I will land up with approval if I don't have fund.
Ben
I can't really speak to their idea. But I'm guessing someone would want to make a separate non-profit 501c3 charity in the U.S. that would direct funds to you. It is a complex process in the U.S. I have a non-profit in the U.S. and it took about 8 months before we had approval to operate from our state and our national government.
2
Bhandari
OK
Bjorn
Hei. Anyway we have to have the name TVCB ( The Village Children in Bhutan). Registrated.
1
Bhandari
That would be fine if they really understand that children are the future generation of this degenerated world , we are trying to make the world a better place to live in for all generations to come
2
Bjorn
Children of today are the people of tomorrow!
2
Bhandari
OK I need a approval from Michelle again
Children of today are people of tomorrow , we need to make understand this for all people how
Ben
https://openworldcause.org/ if everyone was comfortable we could potentially handle the funding and give you the non-profit you needed so your donors could make tax deductible donations. We have experience wiring money to Nepal and Kenya and have always been in good standing in the U.S. Government.
We would need to charge slight overhead fees to pay for our filings to the us government - but we can talk about that if people are interested in the idea. I only want that if it's convenient for people.
3
Bjorn
Ben , I like your logic.
Bhandari
@Ben Honeycutt , we will have to find out the experts who can do this for all kids of today's world.
Ben
It would have to be approved by our board of directors in a vote and if our donations for Nepal, Kenya and Bhutan exceeded 50K we'd have to pay for filing with a CPA. However, the benefit of being to offer tax deductible donations that don't require the fee that GoFundMe does could be beneficial for you all if you don't have another non-profit option. We could figure out percentages later if everyone was comfortable with the plan.
2
Bhandari
Ideas are all good, we only need to take up to find out the result. Which is best depends upon how we convince people. I guess
Go ahead Ben, I authorise, result for pkoso I am looking
1
Bjorn
Yes Bhandari. And nobody will reach you, if they don't know your existence.!
Ben
I think we should have a formal vote - know that if my board of directors don't approve, we can't move forward. It's likely we would need a representative from this group to attend our board of directors meeting (third week of June) and make this pitch personally.
1
Bhandari
The result is three steps I said, first and second is easy and third stage needs bigger plan
Bhandari
@Bjorn Hallstrom , I trust my elders in the thread to find out my existence. I don't have any illegal websites for project. Point out pkoso website, when I am real and doing for good you know it. It will be easy to find out me. Registration is a just a formality and yes it is a fund too, for first success
Bjorn
Sorry. I don't understand this board/directors .
Karunae
Hi guys. A quick step - in. May I suggest a fundraising calendar / action plan with small monthly targets, in order to reach small sums like 5000$. Fundraising ain't easy unless we know big sponsors who'd be keen to donate $1000 in one go. All ideas are good. All need to be put down on a fundraising calendar with dates and targets. The money will come in from many sources:
- go fund me
- Tangkas
- on-off PayPal donations from Bhandari ' s web page (once it's set up)
- monthly donations like 5 euros via Direct Debit
- selling of articrafts
- photo shoots exhibitions and retail of photoes
- a US registers charity as mentions by Ben
Etc.
These are my suggestions.
@Bhandari u need to start writing all of these ideas down and share them in Google Drive as Ben had suggested.
It's important to write down all of the important suggestions in the thread.
Please do this. my Retreat has been postponed to next week. If you can summarise everything on a word or excel document and send it to me via email, after next week, I can start creating- a fundraising calendar / action plan to share w everyone. Let me know 😊
PLS. Write to both:
karunae33@yahoo.com
Karuna33@gmail.com
1
Karunae
You have one week to do it
Bhandari
Which to do? Elena! I have less ideas on posting on Google doc
Karunae
@Bhandari Bhai Bhandari , what u need doing is actually very simple. Just copy and paste everyone's main input - leaving out all irrelevant comments - into a word document and send it to me. I will do the rest. make sure though not to miss any valuable peace of information.
Bhandari
I will do it anyhow. But my point is collaborate the ideas you did it above. Do it as it is poosible by laws
Bjorn
You don't need write down everything. Not all ideas are good. But just a short summary. Very short. The children needs you more.
Bhandari
OK @Karunae Dorje
Thank you all
Good night
1
I am dreaming now
Late night for me already
Ben
In the United States, non-profits are legally required to have an appointed board of directors (usually made up of 5 people) who oversee the actions of the non-profit. This is designed to make sure non-profits are running appropriately and to combat potential corruption. We meet with our board once every three months to update them on our efforts to fundraise for the schools we helped construct in Nepal and Kenya. To add another school we'd be affiliated with, our board would have to approve it.
3
Karunae
@Bjorn Hallstrom don't worry for now about good or bad ideas. For now all I need is to receive jus the valuable information shared so far. We can't scroll back. We gotta keep on moving forwards. Once you will see the file you will see. We will also amend it very quickly as it is an excel sheet.
Bhandari
Love you all. Join back after 5pm in the evening
1
Ben
@Karunae, I absolutely agree that we need something on Drive to keep track and vote on major ideas. This will help keep our message concise and show our donors that we have a viable plan.
1
Karunae
@Bhandari Bhai Bhandari @Ben Honeycutt Hi Bhandari what Ben just mentioned is important. This is part of the Infos you must copy and paste. The same applies in Europe for a non profit organisation.
Ben
While we are helping children, many donors can choose to donate to many other fantastic organizations that do the same thing - we have to show we have an organized, concise, and viable plan of action here.
2
Bhandari

I will catch up in a week from now.

Bob RJ
In this century, USP got boost from STP acronyms: https://goo.gl/UKWf10
Bjorn
Once upon time , East of the moon and west of the sun , a small village in Bhutan..... you have to make the kickstarter shine Bob. !
But I don't write collective. Or think collective. Or paint collective.

Bjorn
Karunae
M Ichael
Bjorn An advertising agency ? cool. The thing I see is there are many villages and many projects. What makes this unique? two things. The first is @Bhandari Bhai Bhandari a master of social media who takes the time while being right in the middle of that village. I've never seen that before.
M Ichael
the other Unique Selling Point is bhutan. The Happiness Index is a powerful meme around the world and among people who have money Thoughts?
Bjorn
Local Hero is many places. But Bhandari is our hero. Village ( local development) combined with the aura of Bhutanium is USP.
1
Bjorn
But you know the country on top for happiness?
M Ichael
I will google, but I think someplace in latin amaerica as measured by a survey...
Bjorn
Lost. Of course Norway?
1
M Ichael
oops... It says it's Norway....
"It mainly relies on asking a simple, subjective question of more than 1,000 people every year in more than 150 countries."
. I notice all the Nordic companies are way up on the list...
Bjorn
But of course!
Where is Bhutan on the list.?
M Ichael
an aside about USP "Bhutan is the last standing Buddhist Kingdom in the World " that is unique.
1
Bjorn
Nobody feel for a last standing Buddhist country. ( donation)
M Ichael
you may be right or wrong. I do know that yoga and eastern spiritualism is a powerful meme in the US. Yoga itself is a billion dollar industry.
"How Yoga Became A $27 Billion Industry — And Reinvented American Spirituality"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/16/how-the-yoga-industry-los_n_4441767.html
Of course the yoga industry has little to do with the spiritual understanding or the real practice. Still, from a marketing point of view, it seems like a natural to me... what do you think I'm missing?
Bjorn
Ja. But we don't sell yoga. We are "selling" a little green village with small children who needs most of the basic things in life. And a modest man Bhandari is struggling for their existstance. Far away from our conscience.
1
M Ichael
Of course. I'm only responding to the notion of unique selling proposition which I think you brought up ... Luckily I am way past the time in my life when I have to sell anything...
1
This may sound crass but put your self in the place of the donor. There is a massive competition for your time, attention and emotions. There are thousands of good things that deserve to be supported. Why choose this one or that one?
Michelle
"The Village Children in Bhutan" passes the Michelle Arpin filter, but do we need to check if it passes the Gross National Happiness filter? If they refused a Khengpa and even a Panbang focus, will they approve of "Village" or is that not "National" enough for their criteria?
Bjorn
We must try. !! National is jallaballa.
Michael. Do you know which country who donate most money for development and humanistic aid. ? Money spent per capita.
M Ichael
maybe Village Children of Bhutan will pass more easily. the whole nation has village children. Imagine if the work in Panbang becomes an example of what can happen for all of them...
I don't know about per capita, I do know Americans contribute regularly and alot to millions of ngos.
1
Bjorn
Yes then Bhandari will be super hero.!
No. Michael. It is Norway and Sweden.
M Ichael
maybe per capita... " individual giving amounted to $258.51 billion in 2014, in the USA
M Ichael
So I already think @Bhandari Bhai Bhandari is a superhero... if the project works it will spread. The project already has the hardest part.. which is he. Assembling a web based council of elders is not something I've ever seen before in 7 years on social media... it is truly unique.
Bjorn
I am talking per capita. !
M Ichael
yes, I know that is why I said about "per capita" we have to pay for health care, ridiculous amounts for education. In any case why is that important?
Michelle
I am looking at the list of approved PBOs and at least 3 or 4 have a slant towards helping rural or remote communities, so "village" should be acceptable to the CSOA. http://www.csoa.org.bt/csoa/content/pageContent.php?id=39
4
Bjorn
National sounds not good , compared with Village.
M Ichael
Michelle
I did not say to use "National". I just wanted to make sure that our name would not be rejected this time. Naming a specific village was not acceptable because it does not reflect the national component of GNH, but I don't think they would object to "Village".
3
M Ichael
what do people think is the next step?
Michelle
I wish that everyone who has created an online document for this project would EDIT the document that I started in our facebook volunteers page and enter their own information there. Include a brief description of your page or document, the link that can bring a person to it and say who created it or who is participating in it. This is so that we don't need to scroll up all the time or do an investigation when someone gives a link. I for one would like to have a place where i can find these contributions when it is convenient and not on the spot when they appear in this thread or as a comment in a facebook post, but RIGHT IN THE DOCUMENT.
1
Dmi
@Michelle, what makes LiM inconvenient for the "findability" you are about?
List of the documents is being collected here:
http://confocal-manawatu.pbworks.com/w/page/117175752/Panbang%20Khenpa%20Olay%20Support%20Organization
I can add a link to your documents too. Then, everything will be on same page and easily found via Google.
2
M Ichael
just to share. If we can turn this thread into real changes on the ground in villages in Bhutan, I can easily see Bhundari giving a Ted Talk on the how social media can change the world. And if it somehow turns out that this one village triggers a model for other village visionaries to use social media, I can easily see how it can go viral.
1
Michelle
This link that you just posted will be lost in messenger and in very little time. The old-fashioned doc that I placed on the facebook page is static and pinned. Put that link there and i will be able to copy-paste it into Google when I get the time to look for it, otherwise i won't remember what to search for, and people dropping in later will not know that there is something to search for, even if I save your link privately.
Dmi
@Michelle, the FB page will be lost in time too
1
Michelle
why so?
Dmi
https://www.facebook.com/search/str/panbang+khenpa+olay+support+organization/keywords_top
I can see only LiM link, no PKOSO page
FB search for PKOSO wasn't successful either
same for Google. Only official PKOSO page
all those pages are not a part of a bigger structure. Navigation not possible

easy to see that PKOSO is one of the projects in Bhutan
Internet and FB have no structure. Google won't help

I can put all the missing links for you
would you share them please?
including FB page and the GDoc page you mentioned above?
I have taken a function of PKOSO memory. But I can't follow and process all the messages here

I don't want to have to use Google to find our works in progress. They are private and for our group only in any case. Our facebook page is a point of departure for me. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1674945112530510/

I can help you with procedures and structures but not with the content: too busy with building the platform that will help this community in future

not a problem! LiM is listing resources. Access to resources is protected by either FB or GDrive
just be careful with the links if they are private. I usually paste a link to a folder if a content of GDocs is an issue.

I don't have missing links. I am asking all contributors to add their link, or are you saying that you are the only source?

GDocs are not index by Google, I think
