Attention University Daily Kansan (UDK) Editor:
You're overlooking "advisory cautions" about inconsistently exercising ethical journalism standards for fact checking prompts escalating this concern to a KU.edu Campus Policy & Publications Review (CPPR) panel of alumni, faculty advisors and professional peers.
A: Your current role and responsibilities as UDK Editor
makes you an acting co-trustee of Kansas University's Social Capital Investments (since 1865) ...
B: As a registered KU Continuing Education student with a Lifetime KUAA Membership, I'm actively seeking accountability for and resolution of your crew's violation of the "prudent person principle" (fiscal responsibility rule) that erodes KU's Integrity and global reputation for Responsible Conduct of Research in a Networked World.

C: While boarding & living at the 1907 Stubbs Mansion (1961-1965)
I was the Sigma Nu Fraternity House Manager (Ghost Busters Model?)
Later, I was also Jayhawker Magazine Yearbook Distribution & Business Manager, US Navy surface ship handler, fleet operations tracker, master business continuity planner and cybercrime fighting pioneer. (I now serve as Wakarusa Watershed Marshal - with collateral community outreach and stewardship duties - as needed.)
D: I conducted further "urban legend" fact checking at both the Spencer Research and Watson Libraries. However, I was unable to discover any reliable historical evidence confirming the alleged events "echoed" by the UDK's 31-Oct-2006 front page article. A quick social network analysis indicates this urban legend may be linked to a political smear campaign involving SE Kansas mine worker's compensation legislation that Governor Stubbs championed.
Sidebar:
>> When Alice the librarian is queried as to whether anyone in her family had ever had any history of mental illness, she replies she had an uncle who thought he was St. Jerome. Jerome is the patron saint of librarians. <<

A tour of the spooky and haunted places on campus will take place in late October.
In preparation for this, I am looking for people who may have experienced ghosts or other creepy things at Lawrence, or know of others who have. If you have any knowledge you would like to share, stop by the Archives, call or send an e-mail. Anonymity will be respected upon request.

E: I found UDK didn't attribute this LJW 2003 source (Tall Tale)
which casts more doubts on UDK's reputation for reliable reporting!
Fraternity members share supernatural tales | LJWorld.com
It’s only natural to share spooky stories like this one on Halloween.

F: On 22-April-2007 (Earth Day), I suggest both the UDK and Lawrence Journal-Word co-sponsor an "exorcism" that also celebrates the April 22, 1911 commissioning of the (Emergency Preparedness BSA) Boy Scouts in Lawrence, Kansas!
Note: During the week after Easter Sunday 1911, Kansas Governor Stubbs personally sent "$100 for the relief of Lawrence tornado sufferers" via "his brother J.E. Stubbs ..." (LDJW April 20, 1911 page 1 column 3)
This leadership by example reflects the "community stewardship attitude" I enjoyed & experienced as a KU undergraduate.
Perhaps "Applied Behavioral Science" research via http://www.ku.edu/~absc is justified to HELP determine if ghost and UFO sightings are possibly a manifestation of prevailing (1984-2004) community attitudes about their "sense of place" in space!

Ahoy UDK Editor:
Please consider cross-checking City of Lawrence death certificates for 1911 during April ...
I understand they may be available from Spencer Research Library
or from the Kansas State Historical Society to verify Virginia's
full name and records from outfit performing her cremation!

'Ghost Hunters': Seeking Science in Séance Books of the Times
@ http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/14/books/14cohe.html
August 14, 2006 By PATRICIA COHEN
In the late 1880's, shortly after he helped found an organization to research the supernatural, William James confidently predicted that within 25 years science would resolve once and for all whether the dead could speak to the living.
I remember reading some ghost stories about Lawrence in the UDK (the KU newspaper),
and I finally got around finding them online.

why Kripke chose Lawrence as the boys' hometown.
