I began seeking Santa Fe Tail’s “Lost Legends of La Flecha”
in 1967-68 while stationed aboard the U.S. Navy’s “oldest commissioned ship in continuous active service” USS Cimarron (AO-22).
Until 2002, I didn’t resume pending research into “factors” that influenced naming F1RST three ship’s in the U.S. Navy’s 1939 Cimarron-class “fast fleet” oilers. As a 1959 Eagle Scout BSA, my early working premise was: “Prepared Minds Favor Chance”
