Commissioner Tools is a new tool available on the new my.Scouting Tools .
It’s intended to help commissioners better perform (not change) current functions by improving efficiency and easy access of information.
Not all functionality will be available in the initial release of Commissioner Tools, and we will continue to add enhancements based upon your input.

How to use this template:
Step 1. Type the name of the PROCESS or SYSTEM to be "broken down" in the Main Idea symbol.
Step 2. Type the names of the primary component parts of the process or system in the next level of subsymbols. (We recommend you rationalize maximum
Step 3. Continue the breakdown by typing the names of the component actions or steps to be taken that will effectively deliver the primary parts.
Step 4. Enter detailed written information in the integrated note pads found by clicking the upper left corner handle of each separate window (aka symbol).
Step 5. Enter maps, charts, diagrams etc. in the embedded space found by clicking the upper right corner handle of each separate window (aka symbol).
Step 6. Alter the layout, color, size and/or shape of each window (aka shape or symbol) to suit your own particular intentions priorities or preferences.
Benefits of using the visual thinking, process breakdown approach:
Use your own version of this type of... visual thinking, process breakdown template to graphically sub-divide complex processes, systems, etc. into component parts, actions and/or steps, allowing thinkers to visualize and explore whole/part relationships as they strive to achieve designed outcomes.
This chart can then be used as a blueprint to manage the conception, design and execution of corresponding plans designed to achieve each part of the process.

Those of us who presume to take the lead in a democracy, where nobody is even supposed to be in charge, seem to need an arsenal of eight attitudes indispensable to the management of complexity:
1. A lively intellectual curiosity, an interest in everything-because everything really is related to everything else, and therefore to what you're trying to do, whatever it is.
2. A genuine interest in what other people think, and why they think that way-which means you have to be at peace with yourself for a start.
3. A feeling of special responsibility for envisioning a future that's different from a straight-line projection of the present. Trends are not destiny.
4. A hunch that most risks are there not to be avoided but to be taken.
5. A mind-set that crises are normal, tensions can be promising, and complexity is fun.
6. A realization that paranoia and self-pity are reserved for people who don't want to be leaders.
7. A sense of personal responsibility for the general outcome of your efforts.
8. A quality I call "unwarranted optimism"-the conviction that there must be some more-upbeat outcome than would result from adding up all the available expert advice.
